The Russell House


This gracious home was built in 1891 by John Russell, a Scottish furniture maker turned architect/builder of waterworks and water systems, including those in Tacoma, who came to South Bend by way of Chicago. He built this lovely home, in part, as a 25th wedding anniversary gift to his wife Annie.
Back then, the house was known as "The Orchard House", and sometimes "The Castle on Altavista Hill", and now The Russell House Bed and Breakfast with all the charm of the time and a little more...
